What EIAB did you host?
The Wine Tasting. My fiancé and I hosted a “best bottles under $15” event. I was expecting some B-level wines (not that I would know the difference, but play along), but the reality was that there were some stellar bottles. I was also expecting a wine tasting to be all hoitie- toitie, but it wasn’t. I’m glad we took pictures though, because things were a bit hazy the next morning.

Why you are involved with HFG?
This is one of those once-in-a-life-time ideas. Make throwing events easy. Make them about doing good. How cool is that? Also, the team. We’ve been at this for a bit now and I gotta say, the people make HFG what it is. It’s about people doing good, and this board wants that. That inspires me. I hope everyone else will see that too.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
It’s sad to say, but nothing stands out. For the last few years I’ve either donated money or tagged along at a cheesy event. Both good things, and certainly needed. But I’ve never had the satisfaction of participating in an event that meant something to me…until now.

Why you are involved with HFG?
I always wanted to get more involved in the charity scene in NYC but I felt like one, I couldn’t afford it, and two, I didn’t know the right people. Host for Good is the perfect answer to all the questions that I had about joining charities.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
I used to volunteer for the usual charities – doing walks, food banks, etc – in high school and college but I haven’t done anything recently besides attend an open bar or two for a good cause. I want to change that!

What EIAB did you host?
I hosted an in-home art gallery featuring local artists. The great thing about each EIAB is that you have the freedom to get as involved as you’d like. You can host an event requiring very little preparation or you can go all out – the point is for you and your guests to have fun while doing good.

Why you are involved with HFG?
HFG is so appealing to me because as a recent college graduate in an entry-level position, I didn’t have the time or money to donate as much as I was once able to. I attend charity events every chance I get; but the price tag of monthly donations and fancy shmancy events is simply not an option, and I shouldn’t have to stop giving just because graduating from college forced me to make a lifestyle change. HFG is the perfect opportunity for me to give back what I can, when I can.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
I used to walk a blind student to class and cannot tell you how good it made me feel. Selfish? Perhaps, but taking five minutes out of my day made a difference to him and that will always stand out in my mind. I think it’s the little things that really make a difference.

Why you are involved with HFG?
The moment I heard the concept, I loved it. Plus there are a lot of smart folks behind this so it is sure to be a great project. I have climbed to the Top of the Rock, run a 10k in muddy terrain and the usual fundraising stuff out there. I have also worked on pro-bono projects for non-profits through another foundation. For me, this is an opportunity to stay focused.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
I have passed along extra change to the person ahead of me on line when it seems they are just a bit short. I know it seems silly, but it makes that person happy, everyone else behind happy and the cashier. All for under a dollar. Sometimes it is just a penny.

What EIAB did you host?
I can’t wait to host the first official Host For Good poker night. I know it will be amazing – cards, drinks and friends, and the winner gets to select their favorite charity and donate the pot to a good cause – sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Why you are involved with HFG?
My husband and I recently moved to New York – I’ve been looking to get involved in the community, but with the right organization. Host For Good is a fresh idea with huge potential – it provides a framework for doing good while having a great time with friends, connects you to new ideas about charities you didn’t know about before, and expands your community by banding you together with other groups who are doing their part as well.
The idea is exciting, the team is outstanding, it’s an opportunity to connect to the community of Host For Good participants around the world, and it’s lovely to have something useful to contribute – who wouldn’t get involved?

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
Some of the normal stuff – building houses, helping in soup kitchens, cleaning up parks, repairing hiking trails, planting trees and uprooting invasive ones, helping to freshen up community outreach centers. Most of the “good” I’ve done has been connected to something I love, like hiking or being outside, or someone I love, looking out for family and friends. It’s wonderful if we can connect things we are passionate about with an outcome that benefits those around us. At Host For Good, I hope to broaden the community I’m able to impact.

Wii Just Dance Challenge – people get to boogie, have fun and give back!

Why you are involved with HFG?
Today’s young people want to give back but want to do it on their terms. Host for Good is an easy way to get people together to make a difference. For these participants, Host for Good will hopefully be the start of a long life of giving back.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
I worked for (RED) helping to eliminate AIDS in Africa for four years. I was responsible for the (RED)NIGHTS concert series that brought musicians and their fans together to make a difference. At the end of 2011, (RED) had generated over $185 million.

What EIAB did you host?
I hosted a Mardi Gras themed party on Fat Tuesday. The EIAB gave me all the tools I needed to successfully celebrate this fun and iconic ‘holiday’ with my friends all while donating to charity!

Why you are involved with HFG?
The concept of Host For Good is brilliant. It can sometimes be difficult to balance work, friends, significant others and extra commitments. I’d be willing to bet that if you surveyed the working population, a fair amount would want to participate in charitable work, but they may not have the time. HFG allows participants to make sure they maintain their work-life balance by motivating people to carve out time with friends, while at the same time raising money for a charity. In essence, you’re taking two separate activities and combining them into one – something that is much appreciated by the modern day worker who doesn’t have a whole lot of time on their hands. At the end of the day, HFG has great potential to make a significant impact in the charitable world.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
I’ve always been involved with charitable work, whether it be participating in a Relay for Life fundraiser or devoting time to spend reading to children or entertaining the elderly. Ever since graduating from college it’s been difficult to get involved with a charity . I’m looking to change that by being part of HFG.

Why you are involved with HFG?
Host For Good is a different type of charity that allows you to give as much as your time and means permit. Not everyone is in a position financially to donate a significant amount of money to help their cause of choice but by spending some time to plan an event and host a party you can contribute so much more than you would have been able to give out of pocket. Host For Good enables you to raise more money with the help of others. Host for Good is intriguing because it does not limit itself to one specific cause. The charity organization will reach all different groups that need help in the world. I love that fact that a little money will be flowing to a lot of different charities in need.

What’s the most do-gooder thing you’ve done?
I spent a week in New Orleans building homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina. In the beginning of the week we started with a vacant plot of land and by the week’s end we had built up to the first floor! We had the chance to meet with the family that was moving into the house who were all so grateful and appreciative. Everyone should experience something like this at least once.
